The slotted, flat jaws and the parallel action of the joint make these pliers idea for securely holding and working with wire. The lower jaw features a V-notch centered along its length to secure wire in position. You can feed the wire down through the throat and, with the notch along the center of the lower jaw, hold it firmly over the entire length of the jaw—excellent for holding, straightening and pulling wire. Because the jaws are flat except for the notch, they are also effective for shaping sheet, wire and workpieces. The compound box-joint keeps the jaws always parallel as they open and close. The jaws hold the object securely, even under very firm pressure; making them a good choice for stone-setting and forming. The springless jaws stay where you position them until you open or close the pliers. The texture on the handles helps ensure a firm grip.
